Toronto Sewing Blog Meet-Up!

It’s a truth universally acknowledged that all the really cool sewing blog meet-ups happen too far away to attend. That’s why this winter Gillian from Crafting a Rainbow and I have decided to change that: We’re hosting our own Toronto Sewing Blog Meet-up!

Here's the super cute graphic Gillian made for the event:

The plan so far is to meet and do a bit a fabric shopping around Queen West and Spadina. After that, we'll cozy up in a coffee shop nearby and possibly proceed to swap patterns or fabrics, or simply enjoy a nice hot chocolate.

Are you excited??! Finally, a sewing meet-up nearby!

Whether you have a sewing blog or simply enjoy reading sewing blogs, we really hope you'll join us! Just leave us a comment or email Gillian or myself to RSVP.

We look forward to meeting you, we've never met a sewist we didn't like!

  1. Yay! I am really excited for this - I feel like sewing in Toronto has really blossomed this year, with a lot of new studio spaces opening up. I'm excited to see who meet!

  3. Jealous...and inspired to see if there are any 30/40-something sewists in my area. To my knowledge, there are only 50-something quilters here, but you never know until you put your feelers out. Have a great time at your meetup!

  5. These things are the best part about sewing and blogging. Meeting new people who are as obsessed with sewing as your own good self! Have fun :_

  6. Oooh! I'd love to come but the airfare from Winnipeg is prohibitive. Are there any sewing bloggers in the 'Peg?

  7. I'm in! I'd love to meet some fellow TO sewists - and do a little shopping...

  8. Must ask - can someone without a sewing blog pop their head in at this get-together? I have a love of vintage patterns (1920s - 1940s) as well as modern patterns. Trying to work up the courage to just get sewing with these things, but... *sigh* Really, at 40+ you'd think i'd get off my tushy and do it! *lol*

In any case, let me know if you folks don't mind a sewer wanna-be showing up - if not, I can understand completely...

    Thanks! :)

    Love,
    Mugsy

    1. Hi Mugsy! Of course we would love for you to join us and you are 100% welcome. Shall I put you down as "confirmed"? I would just need a way to contact you since you don't have a blog. Can you drop me a line at allstyleandallsubstance GMAIL to confirm your attendance? We look forward to meeting you!

  9. Bonjour Adrienne - I replied over at Gillian's, but I thought I should comment here too that I'm going to be joining you. I live just over the border in Quebec, so I'll be taking the train in early that morning to meet everyone. Looking forward to a weekend escape in TO and some sewist fun (I'll be packing my unloved patterns for swap or giveaway, if that's any further incentive for people to come!)

  10. Hi! I just ran into your blog via a mention of Fabricland on Karen's Did You Make That. I was like - hey, there's a sewing blogger from Toronto! Then I saw this post and realized there's a lot of sewing bloggers from Toronto!! I don't know how I've never found you all until now :-) My name's Elise and I'm a sewer but not a blogger, I live in Toronto and I'd love to meet up on the 23rd. I'm excited about the idea of hitting the Queen and Spadina fabric strip as a group - I tend to find those shops a bit daunting/intimidating unless I know exactly what I'm after. Do let me know how to get in the loop!

  12. A quick question - Mugsy here again..would anyone be interested in some buttons for this possible pattern swap we might have? The local Zellers is closing down and for funzies I bought a couple of bags of those assorted buttons (a neat way of starting a button stash, I now think). Lots of "plain janes" but also some fun singles for crafting. I'll try and organise and bag them up seperately if anyone is interested...?

    Let me know. :)

    Love,
    Mugsy

    1. Hey Micki! Thanks for reading, and I'm glad you're liking the blog! As for the meet-up, I won't be organizing one myself in Toronto, due to my upcoming move to Sweden. However, I know for a fact that Gillian from Crafting a Rainbow will continue to organize meet-ups. I think she's looking for someone to organize it with, actually, if you're interested in helping out. I hope this helps! Adrienne
