Meet Nicole!

Just a quick post to let you know that I'm still alive (although only barely, after accomplishing the feat of translating 13,000 words in five days... totally writing from zombie-land right now).

Everyone meet my new girl, Nicole!

"Nicole" because she was given to me by my dear aunt Nicole -- complete with original cat hair and all. (Thanks, Nicole!)

The only drawback is that she won't fit my suitcase. So I will have to leave her behind when I move to Sweden. At some point I will be shipping all my stuff by sea, but that won't be for another year or so.

Readers, who's in dire need of a SEWCATION in here? I know I am! Not only because Me-Made-May is coming, but, seriously. Me-Made-May is coming. I'll finally be able to participate and my self-stitched wardrobe needs a serious boost!

Partly to address this problem, and mostly because I'm dying to try this pattern I drafted in February, here's what's on my sewing table at the moment:

Also, Gertie's book finally arrived for me at the library. I can't wait to properly sit down, make myself a great big latte and spend a morning browsing through it and dreaming about sewing projects.

By the way, if you live in Toronto and are not using the Toronto Public Library, you don't know what you're missing. They have everything -- including the most amazing sewing books... And you can have any book in the system delivered to your local branch within days. And all this is virtually free. I ♥ you, TPL!

  1. I can't wait to see what you wear for MMMM'13. I'm still unsure about participating. Even though all the baby weight came off my proportions are different! What the...? So yeah, lots of my skirts fit snug here or there. boo!

    1. Oh, your MMM'12 inspired me a lot. I'm sure your MMM'13 collection will be even more amazing. But you do need to give your body time to adjust, post-baby!

    2. Awesome :) (I'm Ashley btw)

I went to school with the lovely Kristian (Victory Patterns) and Andi (How Unseamly), who I saw in your meet-up photos.

I had no idea the next session got cancelled.. It's expensive to attend back to back so I can't say I'm that surprised, but that is a bummer! I would have joined last minute if I ended up attending. Last class (the extra one) he went over anything people missed one-on-one which was awesome.

  3. Hah! I'm at the end of a long hold line for this very book. I love the TPL -- they also have museum passes, although it often means getting to the library before 9 am on a Saturday. I keep meaning to head over to a branch that has Burda magazines.

I've signed up for MMM'13, and I also have to get started on a bunch of projects-in-waiting so I'll have enough to wear, even for my limited participation.

  4. Yes! TPL has so many sewing books, it's amazing. I have read a ridiculous number of them - more than I should have, probably, because now my awareness is miles higher than my skills, and I worry about things five levels beyond where I am. :)
